The development of science and technology in agriculture, has been instrumental in increasing the production of various agricultural commodities. But climate change is also uncertain world led to decreased agricultural productivity. World energy crisis resulted in higher prices of agricultural commodities due to competition between food and energy are higher. Efforts to utilize biomass (agricultural products) has started a lot of research, not only as raw material for bioenergy, but also in an attempt to exploit agro-products into valuable economic products, and realize clean production in agro-industry.

Abstract

ABSTRACTCrossflow ultrafiltration membrane was applied to stevia extract solution for removing non-sugar impurities and maintain the sugars content, especially stevioside, rebaudioside and steviolbiside that have molecular weight below 1 kDa. The impurities such as chlorophyll, alkaloid, tannin, steroid, flavonoid gave unclear solution. The ultrafiltration used was a hollow fiber module equipped by polyethersulfone (PES) membrane with the pore size of 20 kDa. The ultrafiltration could remove the impurities indicated by a low ash content in the permeate and increase solution clarity. The high clarification was obtained at crossflow velocity of 0.02 m/s and transmembrane pressure at 1.87 bars. These conditions gave highest flux of 60 L/m2.h and lowest stevioside rejection of 36%. The solution clarity increased up to 64%, whereas the ash content decreased by 62%.  Keywords: stevia, crossflow ultrafiltration membrane

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe objectives of this research were to group vegetables cultivated in Karangreja district, Purbalingga, based on sustainable agriculture parameters and to evaluate each of cluster toward sustainable agriculture innitiatives. A simple random sampling technique was employed to select farmers as respondents in Serang and Kutabawa villages. Sustainable agricultural indicators and local government's indicators were used to group vegetables products. The indicators consisted of three aspects: environmental, economic, and socio-culture indicators. Cluster and scoring analysis were used to analyse data and related information. The result of this research produced  four clusters of vegetables products. Based on the scoring analysis, tomato and beans were not towards sustainable agriculture, while big red chilly, potatoes and cabbages lead to support agriculture sustainable system.Keywords: agricultural sustainable system, cluster of horticultural products

Abstract

ABSTRACTPatchouly oil have the biggest value in the total Indonesian essential oil export.  The aim of this research is to separate patchouli alcohol from patchouly oil used fractionation distillation methode.   The results showed that fractionation distillation of patchouli oil with fraction 0, 1 and 2 has met SNI 06-2385-2006 inquiry.  The treatment of low pressure in process will be increase patchouli alcohol. Except that, destilate process the fractionation patchouli oil at low temperature content residu patchouli alcohol, specific gravity, refractive index and optical rotation has met SNI 06-2385-2006.Keywords: patchouli oil, distillations, fractionation

Abstract

ABSTRACTPhenomena of impact of oil palm’s FFB against ground, concrete, wood, metal and FFB surfaces were studied to determine bruise resistance and minimum absorbed energy to cause bruising. Employing free fall and pendulum impact methods, results of the experiment indicated that the values of bruise resistances of FFBs impacted against ground, concrete, wood, metal and FFB surfaces were 0.1175 J/mm3, 0.0095 J/mm3, 0.0074   J/mm3, 0.0089 J/mm3 and 0.0077 J/mm3, respectively. The values of minimum absorbed energies to cause bruising of FFBs impacted against ground, concrete, wood, metal and FFB surfaces were 334.46 J, 8.9671 J, 19.401 J, 17.553 J and 9.5925 J,  respectively. In respect to fruit ripeness, the change of bruise resistance value followed an uncertain trend whereas the values of minimum absorbed energy to cause bruising decreased with the advance of fruit ripeness. In order to avoid bruising during handling due to impact against those five different surfaces, FFBs must be protected from suffering from energy greater than their minimum absorbed energies. Abstract

ABSTRACTAntibacterial activity of liquid extract of bacteriocin from Lactobacillus sp. strain SCG 1223 was relatively stable against Escherichia coli, Salmonella thypimurium and Listeria monocytogenes during storage. However, published work on activity of bacteriocin in dry encapsulated form is limited. This research work was aimed to evaluate antibacterial activity of encapsulated bacteriocin from Lactobacillus sp. strain SCG 1223 against E. coli, S. thypimurium, and L. monocytogenes on various formulated combination using spray drying method of encapsulation.  Research was performed using complete randomised factorial design with three factors, i.e. ratio of maltodextrin to skim milk powder (1:0; 1:5; and 1:2), bacteriocin load in the microcapsules (20% and 40%), and inlet temperatures of spray drying (150oC and 170oC). Results showed that encapsulated bacteriocin of Lactobacillus sp. strain SCG 1223 of formula A2B1C1 (16.67% maltodextrin and 83.33% skimmed milk powder;  liquid bacteriocin concentration of 20%; and inlet feed of spray drying temperature of 150oC) had better inhibitory activity against E. coli (779.82 AU/mL), S. thypimurium (912.68 AU/mL), and L. monocytogenes (947.25 AU/mL) than those without encapsulation. Abstract

ABSTRACTThis objectives of this study were to determine the concentrations of sodium bicarbonate and citric acid in the production of carbonated grape drink (effervescent). The research method used in this study was an experimental method using a completely randomized factorial design with three replications. The result showed that  sodium bicarbonate and citric acid affected on moisture content, pH, dissolve of carbonated grape drink, and percentage of foam volume. Abstract

ABSTRACTThe main objectives of this research was to create a model of decision support systems for small industry of biodiesel that can be easier for biodiesel processors to manufacture biodiesel in accordance with standards. A web-based decision support systems for the quality of biodiesel models consisted of four models, namely the determination of biodiesel processing model producing  the best decision in accordance with the characteristic of raw materials, the calculation the needs of additional ingredient in the biodiesel processing model producing the decision for the needs of the process, the determination of quality product model that produces the decision in accordance with quality standards, and analysis on the incompatibility of biodiesel quality model that generates suggestions for the user. The methodology used in this research was decision tree and rules based expert system. This research resulted in a simulation of web-based decision support systems for the biodiesel quality that aims to facilitate the processing of biodiesel, especially for small industries in producing biodiesel, and biodiesel that produced in accordance with the standard (SNI). Abstract

ABSTRACTRecently, industrial development is directed toward an environmental sound development, called green industry. In implementation of the concept, knowledge of current status of green industry is very important; therefore, development of tools to determine green industry is a necessity. The objective of this research was to design a green agroindustry intelligent system using fuzzy inference system, called SICAH. Development of the system employed twelve variables and 193 rules to determine green industry status of an agroindustry. Moreover, it was implemented simple rules to determine appropriate generic strategy in green industry level enhancement which should be conducted both by government and CEO of agroindustry. Testing the system using dummy data was conducted to ensure fitness of the system in determining of green agroindustry. It was concluded that the system could be implemented for this purpose.Keywords: green industry, intelligent system, fuzzy inference system

Judul diikuti dengan nama pengarang, institusi dan alamat, serta catatan kaki yang merujuk penulis yang bertanggungjawab untuk surat menyurat (corresponding author), lengkap dengan alamat surat, nomor telpon & faksimili serta alamat e-mail.Abstrak.  Abstrak ditulis dalam Bahasa Inggris dan Bahasa Indonesia. Abstrak tidak boleh lebih dari 250 kata dalam satu paragraf.  Abstrak berisi intisari dari keseluruhan naskah.  Hindari penggunaan singkatan kecuali yang telah umum digunakan. Kata kunci (keywords) ditulis dalam Bahasa Inggris dan Bahasa Indonesia, terdiri atas tiga hingga lima kata, dan disusun berdasarkan kepentingan dan disajikan pada bagian akhir abstrak.Pendahuluan.  Pada bagian ini disajikan latar belakang yang didukung dengan intisari pustaka, tujuan dan apabila diperlukan ruang lingkup penelitian sehingga pembaca dapat mengevaluasi hasil kajian tanpa harus membaca publikasi sebelumnya.  Pustaka yang digunakan harus yang benar-benar relevan dengan penelitian yang dilakukan. Tinjauan pustaka sebaiknya diintegrasikan pada bagian pendahulan, metodologi dan pembahasanBahan dan Metode.  Bagian ini berisi informasi teknis dan rinci sehingga percobaan dapat diulang dengan baik oleh peneliti lainnya.  Jika digunakan peralatan/instrumen khusus maka perlu diberikan spesifikasi alat dan kondisi operasi.Hasil dan Pembahasan.  Bagian ini menyajikan hasil penelitian, baik dalam bentuk bahan teks, tabel, dan gambar.  Penggunaan foto sangat dibatasi pada hasil yang jelas.  Setiap gambar dan tabel diberi nomor secara berurut dan harus diacu pada naskah.
